COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's golf team opens its spring season, hosting the 30th Therese Hession Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. Feb. 1-3. Â
- All seven Buckeyes will be competing at the tournament. In Ohio State's lineup are Kary Hollenbaugh, Nellie Ong, Maty Santilli, Marina Joyce-Moreno and Mandy Song. Sophie Eppelstun and Chloe Lam will compete as individuals.Â
- Hollenbaugh enters this year's Therese Hession Regional as the defending champion, after an impressive performance last season at Palos Verdes Golf Club. She fired a final-round 67 (-4) to tie the tournament-record 54-hole score of 203 (-10), marking the best 54-hole performance of her career. It was also the first time she shot three rounds in the 60s, including back-to-back three-under 68s in the opening two rounds. Over the 54 holes, Hollenbaugh recorded 16 birdies, the most of any player in the field of 88, and led the way on par 3s, finishing four-under. Her dominant performance sets a high bar as she looks to defend her title this year.Â
- Last season, the Buckeyes finished sixth at the tournament with a team score of 859 (+7), including a strong two-under 282 in the final round. Nellie Ong led the way, moving up four spots to tie for 21st at 217 (+4) with six birdies. Mandy Song shot a final-round 74 (+3) to finish tied for 64th, also with six birdies, while Marina Joyce-Moreno improved by six strokes in the final round to tie for 72nd with five birdies. Ohio State ranked second on par 3s and sixth in birdies among the 16-team field.Â
- The Buckeyes will once again honor a fallen hero through the Folds of Honor program, carrying bags bearing the name of Technical Sergeant Anthony Campbell. TSgt. Campbell served as an explosive ordnance disposal technician with the Air Force's 932nd Civil Engineer Squadron and was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In December 2009, he lost his life while saving his team from an IED, selflessly placing himself between them and danger. Founded in 2007, Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen or disabled service members and first responders, awarding more than 44,000 scholarships to date.Â

Hollenbaugh will be carrying the Folds of Honor bag during the Therese Hession Regional. Â
