COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 25 Ohio State women’s soccer team closed out its opening road weekend with a 1-0 victory over UNCW on Sunday afternoon in Wilmington.
The Buckeyes are now 1-1-1 on the season after their first road trip.
The Buckeyes controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting the Seahawks 13-3. UNCW was unable to put a shot on frame as senior goalkeeper Molly Pritchard notched her first shutout of the season.
The breakthrough came in the 32nd minute when junior forward Lily Danner slotted home the game’s only goal off a well-placed assist from Amanda Schlueter. The goal was the first of her career. For Schlueter, the assist was the 20th of her career as she now moves into fifth in program history.
Danner's strike proved to be the difference as Ohio State held strong in the second half, keeping a clean sheet.
