Buckeyes Explode in Second Half to Down Princeton 4-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s soccer team overcame a one-goal halftime deficit by erupting for four goals in the second half to defeat Princeton 4-1 Thursday night at Sherrerd Field.

The Buckeyes improve to 2-1-1 on the year with two non-conference matches remaining.

Princeton struck first in the 42nd minute, converting a low finish from Alexandra Barry to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

The Buckeyes wasted no time in the second half. Senior forward Amanda Schlueter converted a penalty kick in the 55th minute to level the score. Just five minutes later, Elle Britt finished a chance created by Schlueter to put Ohio State in front, 2-1.

The goals kept coming as just 46 seconds later, Jacinda Bonham netted her first of the season following a shot attempt from twin sister Jadin. The final goal of the night came two minutes later as Ava Greco headed in a long shot off a corner kick Britt to push the Buckeye lead to 4-1.

From there, Ohio State controlled possession, making substitutions and limiting Princeton’s opportunities. Goalkeeper Molly Pritchard and fellow senior Arden La-Rose combined to keep the Tigers off the board for the remainder of the match.

The four Buckeye goals came in a span of 7:49, marking the second-fastest four-goal stretch in program history.

This was Schlueter’s eighth game of her career in which she has recorded both a goal and an assist.
