
Ohio State Hosts the Annual Jesse Owens Classic This Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes will host their annual home meet, the Jesse Owens Classic, on Friday and Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
On Friday, May 2, the Ohio State track & field and cross country program will be having its annual alumni social gathering from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. All Ohio State track & field and cross country alumni are welcome and encouraged to attend the Jesse Owens Classic. Friday's events will kickoff at noon with the women's hammer throw and men's javelin throw, with the women's 400m hurdles being the first track event at 4:30 p.m. Friday's action is scheduled to wrap up at approximately 8 p.m. with the men's 5000m. Two throwing events (women's shot put and men's discus throw) start the day off on Saturday, each slated for 10:30 a.m. The women's 100m hurdles will get track events rolling at 1 p.m. The Ohio State seniors will be recognized at 5 p.m. before the women's and men's 4x400m relays wrap up the weekend's events.
Admission and parking are both FREE the entire weekend for all fans. Parking will be available in the adjacent lot just south of Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Weather updates will be posted on X.

LAST WEEK'S TOP PERFORMERS
- Ohio State had three champions and saw four personal records broken last weekend between the Drake Relays and the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open (Louisville, Ky.).
- The women's 4x100m relay team (Leah Bertrand, Fatouma Conde, Bobbi Olive and Olivia Powell) won at the Drake Relays, finishing with a time of 43.91 seconds.
- Also at the Drake Relays, Sophie Fong won the women's pole vault with a clearance of 4.07m/13'4.25".
- At Louisville, Tanner Watson won the men's discus with a toss of 57.35m/188'2".
- Sophie Bidwell threw for a personal-best distance of 56.03m/183'10" at the first day of Louisville, finishing third in the women's hammer throw. She surpassed her previous PR of 54.60m/179'2".
- Bidwell then set a new discus PR of 45.90m/157'2", good for sixth place the next day.
- Powell finished eighth in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.45, setting a new PR (previously 1:00.72).
- Lawson Maag set a new men's hammer throw PR of 49.66m/162'11", having improved more than two meters from his old record.
