Buckeyes to Host NCAA Matches as No. 4 Seed

Ohio State is making its 11th consecutive appearance
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's tennis team has been selected the No. 4 seed in the 2025 NCAA Championship and will host first and second round matches this weekend in Columbus.

This is the fifth year in a row, and the seventh time overall, the Buckeyes earned a Top 16 seed and will serve as a host of the first and second rounds. It is the third time the team was seeded among the top four (No. 3 in 2017, No. 4 in 2016).

The Buckeyes are 21-3 overall and won the fourth Big Ten Tournament title in program history Saturday in Ojai, Calif., defeating No. 3 Michigan, 4-3. The squad was 12-1 in Big Ten play and finished second in the league regular season standings.

Ohio State will face Buffalo, the MAC champion, with the other first-round matchup between UIC, the Missouri Valley Conference champion, and Notre Dame, an at-large selection out of the ACC. The winner of the Columbus site will advance to a single-elimination super regional against the winner of the regional hosted by No. 13 seed LSU, hosted by the highest remaining seed. The final three rounds of the tournament will be in Waco, Texas.

The first-round matches in Columbus will be Friday, with the Flames and Irish meeting at 10 a.m., followed by the Buckeyes and Bulls at 1 p.m. The first-round winners will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday for a spot in the super regionals. Ohio State is a dual gender NCAA site. Saturday the No. 5 seeded Buckeye men will host first-round matches at 10 a.m. (Auburn vs. Belmont) and 1 p.m. (Ohio State vs. Buffalo) and the second-round match at noon Sunday.

Matches are set to be played outside at the Auer Tennis Complex. In the event of inclement weather, play will be moved inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Admission and parking will be free for all NCAA matches in Columbus. Live scoring and video will be available through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

The Buckeyes have faced all three Columbus teams in the NCAA Tournament. Ohio State is 1-0 all-time against Buffalo, with a 4-0 win in Columbus in the 2017 NCAA Tournament first round. The Buckeyes and Irish met earlier this season in South Bend, with Ohio State winning 6-1. The programs met in the NCAA Tournament second round in 2017 in Columbus, a 4-0 Ohio State victory. UIC was in Columbus for the 2021 NCAA Tournament, with the Buckeyes posting a 4-0 win.
