Ohio State ends season with 18-11 overall record
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 3 seed Ohio State (18-11) fell in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tournament Finals, 3-0, to No. 1 Loyola Chicago (25-3) Saturday at Gentile Arena in Chicago.
Ohio State has played in the MIVA title match 29 times with 19 postseason tournament MIVA titles. The Buckeyes had won the previous two MIVA tournament titles. Ohio State won the league tournament three-consecutive times in 2016-17-18.
Against the Ramblers, Ohio State fell by scores of 10-25, 17-25, 21-25.
Freshman Stanislaw Chacinski, a MIVA first teamer and league newcomer of the year, finished with 11 kills and six digs. He also was named to the 2025 All-MIVA Tournament Team along with junior Shane Wetzel.

How it Happened
Set 1 (LUC, 25-10)
Loyola Chicago started with a 4-1 lead before a Cole Young and Kyle Teune combo block and a Daniel Henwood Rodriguez kill made it 4-3. Shane Wetzel's first kill of the match made it 7-5 Ramblers. A 4-0 Loyola Chicago run upped the lead to 11-5. Ohio State called timeout but the Ramblers got a kill out of the break before a service error made it 12-6. LUC extended the lead to 18-8 before the Buckeyes took their final timeout of the set. The Ramblers then took the opening set, 25-10.
Set 2 (LUC, 25-17)
Wetzel evened the set 2-all early with a kill. The Ramblers then used a 5-1 run for an 8-4 lead. Ohio State called its first timeout of the set. Loyola Chicago remained aggressive in building a 12-6 lead. A Stanislaw Chacinski kill and DHR ace cut into the lead to make it 13-9. A 4-1 run by the Buckeyes kept it close at 14-11 Ramblers. LUC responded with a 3-0 run before Ohio State's final timeout made it 17-11. Thomas Leahey came out of the stoppage with a kill with Chacinski adding one of his own to make it 18-13. The Ramblers then finished off the set to win, 25-17, for a 2-0 lead in the match.

A Leahey kill kicked off the third set at 1-0 Buckeyes. Neither team was able to find separation until a 4-0 scoring run gave the Ramblers a 9-6 lead. A kill from Wetzel made it 9-7, but a 4-1 run by Loyola Chicago took its lead to 13-8 and the Buckeyes took their first timeout. After the break, another Wetzel kill cut the Rambler lead to 13-9, but another 3-1 scoring run made the score 16-10 Loyola Chicago, forcing Ohio State into its second and final timeout of the set. Coming out of the huddle, a pair of Chacinski kills made it 18-12. The Buckeyes closed the gap to 20-15 after an ace from Chacinski and a kill from Teune, and the Ramblers took their first timeout. A Buckeye block and another kill from Teune made the score 20-17 Ramblers, and Loyola Chicago took its final timeout. After the break, a Wetzel kill made it 21-18 Ramblers. Loyola Chicago then went on a 3-1 run to get to match point, leading 24-19. Ohio State survived three match points, but a kill from Loyola Chicago gave the Ramblers the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
