COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team has won each of its last two events and will look to keep the good play going this weekend at the Big Ten Championship. The 54-hole event is being played at the Baltimore Country Club in Baltimore, Md.
- Ohio State’s lineup for the championship will consist of Vaughn Harber, Joe Wilson IV, Tyler Sabo, Jack Vojtko and Timotej Formanek.
- The Buckeyes have won the Big Ten Tournament 23 times, but not since 2004. Individually, 18 Buckeyes have claimed medalist honors. Howard Baker (1945, 1947) and John Cook (1978, 1979) each won the title twice.
- Last year, the Buckeyes finished fifth at Scioto Country Club, led by a seventh-place finish by Neal Shipley.
- Ohio State has won back-to-back stroke play tournaments for the first time since the 1997-98 season. The Buckeyes won Buckeye Classic two weeks ago at Columbus Country Club and then posted the lowest final round to win the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate last week on their home course.
- Sabo, Vojtko, Wilson IV and Harber are separated by just eight strokes on the season.
- Harber leads the team with a 73.32 scoring average. He has led the team the last two weeks with a pair of Top 10 finishes, both season highs.
- Sabo and Wilson IV are both tied in scoring at 73.46. They both finished with 70s in the final round last Sunday at the Kepler and both posted Top 15 finishes.
- Formanek posted his best two finishes of the season the last two weeks, including a season-best fourth-place finish at the Kepler last week. He has averaged 71.83 over his last six rounds.
- Temperatures are expected in the high-70s and low-80s with a chance of rain on Saturday. Sunday’s final round forecast looks tremendous.
