
Buckeyes Finish Watersound with Even-Par Round

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State posted an even-par round on Wednesday, its lowest of the event, and would finish 10th at the Watersound Invitational this week in Panama City Beach, Fla.
Freshman Giedrius Mackelis, who was playing as an individual, enjoyed his best tournament as a collegiate player so far. He carded rounds of 70-69-70 to finish in a tie for 21st at 1-under par. Mackelis made a total of 12 birdies through the 54 holes which matches his most in an event this season.
Jack Vojtko continued his solid start to the spring as he posted three consecutive rounds of even-par 70 to finish in a tie for 29th.
Joe Wilson IV had the lowest final round for the Buckeyes with a 1-under 69. He would finish in a tie for 42nd at 3-over par after opening with rounds of 74 and 70.
Timotej Formanek book-ended a second round 74 with a pair of even-par rounds and finished tied for 45th at 4-over par.
Vaughn Harber had a tough opening round 77 but rebounded to play the final 36 holes at just 1-over par and was tied for 62nd at 8-over par. Tyler Sabo rounded out the Buckeye scoring five as he had rounds of 72-72-76 to finish at 10-over.
As a team, Ohio State finished in 10th place at 8-over par.
The Buckeye will head to a spring staple for the program in the Colleton River Collegiate later this month. The 54-hole hole event is scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Colleton River Club in Bluffton, S.C.
