Buckeyes Close Regular Season vs. No. 3 Northwestern Saturday

Ohio State Class of 2025 to be honored pregame
The Basics
Ohio State fell at No. 9 Maryland, 8-5, last Sunday in College Park, Md.
Maryland led 2-1 after the first quarter. The teams were tied late in the second but two Terrapin goals in the final 1:26 sent the teams into halftime with Maryland ahead 5-3.Â
The Buckeyes drew within two at 5:25 of the third but the home team responded with two goals in less than a minute and held an 8-4 lead through 45 minutes. Ohio State notched the only goal of the final stanza for the 8-5 final.Â
Goalie Jocelyn Torres made 12 saves in the Buckeye cage and had a team-best six ground balls. Kate Tyack led Ohio State with two goals and Leah Sax had a goal and an assist.

- The Ohio State women's lacrosse team closes out the regular season at home vs. No. 3 Northwestern Saturday.
- The teams will face off at 1 p.m. in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. Admission and parking are free.

- The Buckeyes are 8-6 on the year (1-6 B1G), coming off an 8-5 loss at No. 9 Maryland last Sunday. Northwestern is 13-2 (7-0 B1G) and won at home over Michigan, 15-6, Thursday night.Â
- Note a previously announced Pregame Block Party will not be held Saturday because of expected inclement weather.
- The 14 seniors on the women's lacrosse roster will be recognized pregame Saturday.
- The Class of 2025 includes Emily Magalotti, Annie Hargraves, Brynn Ammerman, Katie Chisholm, Stella Wineman, Mackenzie Fitzgerald, Margaret Lawler, Bella Cleveland, Maddie Barhorst, Sophie Patton, Leah Sax, Whitney Robinson, Lilli Sherman and Annika Spoor.
- The series between Ohio State and Northwestern started in 2002. The teams were members of the American Lacrosse Conference before the formation of the Big Ten.
- Last year, Ohio State lost on the road to the Wildcats, 19-10. The last game in Columbus was a 17-11 Northwestern win April 15, 2023.

- The Buckeyes are eighth in the NCAA in scoring defense, allowing 8.71 goals per game. The team has allowed double-digit goals just four times this season.
- The Buckeyes rank fourth nationally in clearing percentage (.944) on the year.
- Ella Wright, Lilli Sherman and Audrey Schoemer all started the first 14 games on defense and Katie Kaucheck started the first 13.Â
- Annika Spoor made her first collegiate start on defense last Sunday at Maryland. She had two ground balls and a draw control in the contest.Â
- Sherman leads the Buckeyes with 23 caused turnovers. She has at least two caused turnovers in seven games this season, including in three of the last five outings.
- Goalie Jocelyn Torres recorded a career-high six ground balls last time out at Maryland and now leads the team with 27. Kampbell Stone and Emily Magalotti are tied for second with 20 ground balls each.Â
- Jocelyn Torres was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List and an Inside Lacrosse Midseason Third Team All-American. She ranks fifth nationally in save percentage (.514) and is sixth in goals-against average (8.73). She has 127 saves through her first 14 games as a Buckeye, including five games with double-digit stops. Torres had 12 saves, allowing eight goals, last time out.
- Kaucheck and Stone are tied for second on the squad with 13 caused turnovers each, while Schoemer and Wright each have nine.Â
- Brynn Ammerman paces the Buckeyes with 37 assists and 50 points. She is on a 18-game point streak (16g, 41a, 58p). Ammerman has two or more assists in all but three games this year and is 17th in the NCAA and first in the B1G with 2.64 per game, ranking 18th overall and second in the B1G in total assists.Â
- Ammerman has passed the career-best assist (28) Â and point (48) totals she recorded last year. Her 37 assists are the most for a Buckeye in a single season since Jackie Cifarelli had 54 in 2015 and rank ninth for a single season in Ohio State history.Â
- Ammerman had three assists at Rutgers March 30 to cross the 100-point mark for her Buckeye career. She has 107 points for the Scarlet and Gray, with 38 goals and 69 assists in 45 games. Her 69 assists rank fifth in program history.Â
- Freshman Abby Boyle leads the Buckeyes with 45 draw controls and has five games with five or more, including six vs. Johns Hopkins last week.
- Kate Tyack has at least one goal in 13 of the last 14 games, held scoreless only vs. USC March 23, and has 10 goals in the last five games combined. On the year, Tyack has a team-best 32 goals and is second with 37 points, both career highs. She has 16 games with two or more goals through her first 31 collegiate games and has 68 points, with 56 goals and 12 assists, as a Buckeye.Â
- Leah Sax has at least one point in 13 of 14 games this season. She is third on the team with 31 points, ranking fourth in goals (17) and second in assists with a career-high 14. After just three appearances and one goal through her first three years at Ohio State, Sax has 47 goals, 21 assists and 68 points in the 31 games since the start of 2024.
- Annie Hargraves has at least one goal in 11 of 14 games this year, including the last four. She has 16 goals on the year and 53 in her career. She picked up her second career assist at Penn State April 6 and now has 55 points in 48 career games.
- Zoe Coleman has at least one goal in 17 of the last 19 games. She now has 55 goals in her 48-game career, adding 21 assists for 76 points. Coleman is second on the squad with a career-high 26 goals this year. Her 26 goals have come on 43 shots and she is eighth in the NCAA with a .605 shooting percentage.
- Stone has at least one goal in 10 of 14 games this season. She has 23 goals this year to rank third on the team. Stone has 10 multiple goal outings at Ohio State (seven this season), with 37 goals and 38 points in 31 career games.
- Makena Harrington has at least one goal in five of the last nine games, with nine in the stretch, and 10 goals on the year. She has added three assists for 13 points, along with 13 draw controls.
- Emily Magalotti has eight points, with six goals, this season, picking up 20 ground balls and recording a career-high 33 draw controls to rank second on the squad. She had 32 draw controls a season ago.
