COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coming off a victory last weekend, the Ohio State men’s golf team will look to keep the good vibes going as the Buckeyes host the 53rd Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. The tournament is being played on the Scarlet Course of the OSU Golf Club with the first two rounds being played on Friday, and the final round being played on Saturday morning.
- Ohio State’s lineup this week will be the same as last week. Vaughn Harber, Joe Wilson IV, Tyler Sabo, Jack Vojtko and Timotej Formanek will be on the scoring five while Topher Reed, Drew Mulcahy and Tyler Groomes will play as individuals.
- This is the 53rd Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. Ohio State has won the team title 25 times. A Buckeye has claimed individual medalist honors 23 times, with Maxwell Moldovan winning most recently in 2022.
- Last year, Jackson Chandler led three Buckeyes in the Top 10 as he finished runner-up following rounds of 68-71-75 (+1). As a team, the Buckeyes finished runner-up as well, three shots behind Indiana.
- Ohio State is seeking wins in back-to-back stroke play tournaments for the first time since the 1997-98 season. The Buckeyes won the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate and then closed the regular season with a win at the Wolverine Invitational.
- Sabo, Vojtko, Wilson IV and Harber have played in all nine stroke play events and are separated by a total of four strokes.
- Vojtko leads the team at 73.28 and he has a team-best four Top 20 finishes.
- Sabo has three Top 20 finishes and leads the team with 81 birdies on the year.
- Harber is tied with Sabo in scoring at 73.40 and is coming off his best tournament of the year at the Buckeye Classic. Both his fourth-place finish and his 6-under par total were season-bests.
- Wilson IV is just one shot behind Sabo and Harber in scoring and is second on the team with 77 birdies made.
- Formanek posted his best finish of the season at the Buckeye Classic, carding rounds of 71-69-75 to finish in a tie for 13th at 1-under par.
- Friday’s forecast looks tremendous with temperatures around 80 degrees. Saturday, however, brings a very good chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning.
