Buckeyes hit four home runs to bring their season total to 42
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Another day, another run-rule victory for Ohio State. The Buckeyes hit four home runs and scored in every inning of a 11-1 five-inning win over Kent State on Saturday on the second day of the Ohio State Tournament at Buckeye Field.
The win – which was Ohio State's third in a row and ninth in the last 10 games – improved the Buckeyes' record to 16-4-1. Kent State is 4-16 this season. The Buckeyes' four home runs give them 42 through 21 games for an average of two per game.
How It Happened
- Kortokrax and Jasmyn Burns opened the scoring in the home half of the first inning with a two-run double and RBI triple, respectively.
- After Kent State scored in the top of the second on a two-out single, the Buckeyes surged ahead 5-1 with home runs from Skylar Limon and Hadley Parisien. The homers extended Ohio State's streak to 14 consecutive games with a long ball.
- The game got into run-rule territory in the third inning thanks to a three-run home run by Taylor Cruse. It was Cruse's fourth home run in the last seven games.
- Bewick was the fourth Buckeye to homer when she connected on a two-run shot in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 10-1.
- Morgan Frye would close out the scoring in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI triple.
- Junior Kennedy Kay got the start in the circle and pitched four innings. She gave up three hits and struck out two to improve to 4-2 on the season.
