Buckeyes hit four home runs to bring their season total to 42

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Another day, another run-rule victory for Ohio State. The Buckeyes hit four home runs and scored in every inning of a 11-1 five-inning win over Kent State on Saturday on the second day of the Ohio State Tournament at Buckeye Field.

The win – which was Ohio State's third in a row and ninth in the last 10 games – improved the Buckeyes' record to 16-4-1. Kent State is 4-16 this season. The Buckeyes' four home runs give them 42 through 21 games for an average of two per game.

How It Happened

Kortokrax and Jasmyn Burns opened the scoring in the home half of the first inning with a two-run double and RBI triple, respectively.
After Kent State scored in the top of the second on a two-out single, the Buckeyes surged ahead 5-1 with home runs from Skylar Limon and Hadley Parisien. The homers extended Ohio State's streak to 14 consecutive games with a long ball.
The game got into run-rule territory in the third inning thanks to a three-run home run by Taylor Cruse. It was Cruse's fourth home run in the last seven games.
Bewick was the fourth Buckeye to homer when she connected on a two-run shot in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 10-1.
Morgan Frye would close out the scoring in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI triple.
Junior Kennedy Kay got the start in the circle and pitched four innings. She gave up three hits and struck out two to improve to 4-2 on the season.
