Ohio State now 8-3 on the year; Ammerman reaches 100-point mark
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 21 Ohio State women's lacrosse team dropped a Big Ten game at Rutgers, 12-8, Sunday in SHI Stadium in Piscataway. Ohio State is now 8-3 on the year and 1-3 in B1G play, while the Scarlet Knights are 8-4 overall and 2-1 in league action.
The Buckeyes trailed the Scarlet Knights 8-1 early in the third quarter but a six-goal run cut the lead to one (8-7) early in the fourth. Rutgers responded with a run of its own, pushing the lead to 12-7, and a final Buckeye goal made it a 12-8 final.
With three assists in the game, Buckeye senior Brynn Ammerman crossed the 100-point mark for her career. She has 36 goals and 66 assists for 102 points in her 42-game career at Ohio State, with a team-best 34 assists and 45 points this season.

How it Happened
- Rutgers scored the only four goals of the first quarter for a 4-0 lead through 15 minutes.
- A Kampbell Stone free position goal put the Buckeyes on the board a minute into the second quarter but the Scarlet Knights shut out Ohio State the rest of the quarter, while scoring three times, to carry a 7-1 lead into halftime.
- Rutgers pushed the lead to 8-1 1:02 into the third quarter.
- A Makena Harrington free position goal at 9:24 opened a six-goal run for Ohio State.
- Brynn Ammerman set up Kate Tyack at 5:02 and Zoe Coleman at 3:57 for an 8-4 game.
- Stone and Annie Hargraves (on a free position chance) both tallied in the final 22 seconds of the third quarter for an 8-6 game.
- Tyack's second of the day drew the Buckeyes within one at 13:07 of the fourth quarter.
- The Scarlet Knights answered with two goals in the next three minutes to push the lead to 10-7 and added two more at 8:16 and 6:53 for a 12-7 advantage.
- Ammerman set up a Leah Sax tally with 6:11 to end Rutgers' run. That would stand as the final goal of the day.
- Rutgers outshot the Buckeyes, 30-23, in the game. Buckeye goalie Jocelyn Torres made nine saves, with the RU goalie making six stops.
