Ohio State returns to Columbus to face No. 10 McKendree March 27
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 17 Ohio State (11-10, 6-5) ended a two-match swing through Illinois with a 3-2 loss at No. 15 Lewis (17-7, 7-4) Saturday in Romeoville, Illinois, at Neil Carey Arena. Â Â

Ohio State lost by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 18-25, 13-15.

The Buckeyes were led in kills by Stanislaw Chacinski with 19 and Shane Wetzel with 15. Cole Young added 10.
Wetzel also had 11 digs. Aaron Grimm led Ohio State with eight blocks.
Freshman setter Daniel Henwood Rodriguez led both squads with 46 assists.
How it Happened
Set 1 (LEW, 25-22).Â
Lewis used a 5-1 run to take a 11-6 lead in the opening set. The Buckeyes scored three of the next four points to make it 12-9 Flyers. Lewis countered with a 3-1 run to build the lead back up to 16-11, prompting an Ohio State timeout. The Flyers returned from the break with two scores before a Stanislaw Chacinski kill made it 18-12 Lewis. The Flyers called timeout after the Buckeyes went on a 4-1 run to make it 24-20. Ohio State scored the next two points to make it 24-22. Lewis called its final timeout after the Buckeyes scored five-consecutive points. The Flyers then secured the win, 25-22. Chacinski led Ohio State with four kills with Shane Wetzel adding three. The Buckeyes outhit the Flyers in the set, .348 to .143.

Set 2 (OSU, 25-21)
Ohio State opened with a 6-4 lead after a Wetzel kill from a Drew Hudson assist. Lewis took an 8-7 lead on a 4-1 run. Cole Young tied it with a kill before the Flyers scored the next two for a 10-8 lead. Ohio State called timeout and came out firing after the break take a 12-10 lead on consecutive kills by Daniel Henwood Rodriguez and then two more by Chacinski. Ohio State's run of 6-1 to lead 14-11 led to a Lewis timeout. The Buckeyes scored twice after the break for a 16-11 advantage. The Flyers used a 5-1 run to make it 17-16 Ohio State. After the Buckeyes called timeout and then got two kills from Aaron Grimm around a score by the Flyers to make it 19-17 Ohio State. A Wetzel kill capped a 3-1 OSU run for a 22-19 lead. The Buckeyes closed out the win (25-21) on kills by Young, Wetzel and Chacinski. Wetzel and Chacinski owned the team lead in kills with seven each after two sets. Â Â

Chacinski and Wetzel got the Buckeyes started with kills to help Ohio State to a 3-1 lead. Lewis then used a 7-1 run to go up 8-4. Ohio State scored the next three on a Chacinski kill and two Grimm aces to make it 8-7. The Buckeyes used a 5-1 run to even the match at 9-all. A Wetzel kill and Flyer error tied it again at 12-all. Another Lewis error and a block by Grimm, DHR and Chacinski put Ohio State up 14-12. Lewis called timeout after Ohio State's 5-1 run. Wetzel and Chacinski kills upped the lead to 16-13. Lewis battled back to within one before a Young rocket from the middle made it 20-18. Lewis called timeout after the Buckeyes took a 22-19 lead. The Buckeyes then closed it out with a 3-1 run to win 25-20. Both Chacinski and Wetzel upped their kill totals to 12.

The early going was even with no consecutive points scored until the Flyers made it 9-6 with a 3-0 run. Lewis went up 15-10 on a 4-1 run. Ohio State called timeout but Lewis kept its lead the rest of the way and finished on a 4-1 run to win, 25-18, and even the match at 2-all.

Ohio State led 5-2 early before the Flyers mounted a comeback to tie it at 6-all. The set went back and forth with Ohio State using a 4-1 run to take a 10-8 lead. The Flyers called timeout and tied it at 10-all. The teams traded points with Young getting the kill for the Buckeyes. Ohio State called timeout with the Fylers up 12-11. An Ohio State block by Grimm and Chacinski tied it at 12-all. Lewis went up 13-12 on and Ohio State service error and kept the lead in a 15-13 win.
