COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 11-ranked Ohio State women's tennis team added another Big Ten victory after beating Maryland 4-1 Friday in College Park, Md. The Buckeyes are now 10-2 on the year, with a 4-1 Big Ten record, with the Terrapins 9-8 (2-3 B1G).                 Â

To start off the match, the Buckeyes secured the doubles point against Maryland. The duo of Audrey Spencer and Nao Nishino posted the first win for the Buckeyes, with a court three victory from Alessia Cau and Dani Schoenly clinching the point. The tandem of Luciana Perry and Teah Chavez also won its doubles match.

In singles, points secured by No. 8 Luciana Perry, No. 11 Nishino and No. 98 Shelly Bereznyak pulled the team to victory, 4-1, over Maryland.

How it Happened
- Starting off strong in doubles, the tandem of Audrey Spencer and Nao Nishino won its match, 6-2 on court two.
- The duo of Alessia Cau and Dani Schoenly finished next to clinch the doubles point for Ohio State after they posted a 6-4 win on court three.
- Soon after, the No. 15-ranked duo of Luciana Perry and Teah Chavez rounded out the doubles shutout with a 6-4 win on court one.
- The first singles win came from Perry, who posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Emma Kovacevic, bringing the Buckeyes to a 2-0 lead.
- On court three, a 6-0, 6-3 victory from No. 122 Nishino against Danielle Hack gave the Buckeyes a 3-0 advantage.
- The Terps gained a point after No. 96 Spencer fell to Diya Challa, 6-4, 6-2 on court six, bringing the score to 3-1.
- The Buckeyes completed the 4-1 victory after No. 98 Shelly Bereznyak secured a 6-3, 6-2 win on court four over Oliwia Orlinska.Â
- When play was suspended, Cau was up 5-3 in the second set after falling in the first. No. 35 Chavez was down 4-5 in the second set after losing in the first on court one.Â
- Ohio State remains on the road this weekend with a match against Rutgers at noon Sunday.
- The Buckeyes return home next weekend to face No. 24 UCLA at 6 p.m. March 28 and No. 16 Southern California at noon March 30. The match vs. the Bruins will be inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
- Ohio State and USC are slated to play outside at the Auer Tennis Center. In the case of inclement weather, the match will be moved inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
- Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State home matches.
