COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 11-ranked Ohio State women's tennis team notched its second win of the weekend, downing Rutgers 4-0 Sunday in East Brunswick, N.J. The Buckeyes are now 11-2 on the year, with a 5-1 Big Ten record and the Scarlet Knights are 7-7 (1-5 B1G).

The Buckeyes claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Singles wins from Teah Chavez, Sydni Ratliff and Shelly Bereznyak sealed the victory.

How it Happened

The Buckeyes posted two 6-3 wins in doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Luciana Perry and Teah Chavez, ranked 15th, were victorious on court one and the duo of freshmen Nao Nishino and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev prevailed on court three.
Ohio State won five of the first six singles sets to take control.
No. 35 Chavez was the first off the court, as she won 6-2, 6-3 on court one over Mai Nguyen.
On court three, No. 111 Sydni Ratliff followed with a win by the same score over Karina Jumazhanova.
No. 98 Shelly Bereznyak clinched the win, downing Jackie Lopez 6-1, 6-2 on court four.
Perry on court one and Audrey Spencer on court six were both up a set and leading in the second when the match was clinched. Alessia Cau dropped her first set but posted a shutout in the second to force a third, which was tied at two when it was suspended.

The Schedule Ahead

The Buckeyes return home to face No. 24 UCLA at 6 p.m. Friday and No. 16 Southern California at noon Sunday. The match vs. the Bruins will be inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
Ohio State and USC are slated to play outside at the Auer Tennis Center. In the case of inclement weather, the match will be moved inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State home matches.
