Teams will face off Sunday in Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9-ranked Ohio State returns home to face off against No. 16 Oklahoma State at noon Sunday in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Admission and parking are free. There will be a schedule magnet giveaway and free Raising Cane's boxes for the first 50 Ohio State students.

- The Buckeyes are No. 9 in the new ITA rankings released Wednesday.
- Four Buckeyes are in the singles rankings: No. 9 Luciana Perry, No. 47 Teah Chavez, No. 79 Audrey Spencer and No. 86 Nao Nishino. The ranking is a personal best for both Chavez and Nishino.
- In doubles, the duo of Perry and Chavez is No. 41, the first time the tandem has been ranked.
- Ohio State is one of five Big Ten teams ranked in the Top 25, joined by No. 5 Michigan, No. 17 Wisconsin, No. 18 USC and No. 23 UCLA.
- For the second time this season, Teah Chavez was selected the Big Ten Athlete of the Week.
- Last week, Chavez posted ranked singles and doubles wins to help the Buckeyes to a 4-3 victory at No. 14 Duke.
- She and Luciana Perry downed the Blue Devils' No. 11 ranked team on court one in doubles, 6-4. In singles, Chavez rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over No. 27 Emma Jackson to tie the team score at one.
- Chavez is 5-0 in singles dual matches this spring.
- The Buckeyes hold a 4-3 record against the Cowgirls. The teams are meeting for the fourth year in a row and the series started in 2001.
- Ohio State had a four-match winning streak in the series end with a loss on the road last January. In the match, the Buckeyes claimed the doubles point but Oklahoma State won four straight-set singles matches for the team win.
- The Buckeyes posted home victories against Oklahoma State in both 2022 and 2023.
- Oklahoma State is ranked No. 16 this week, with four players ranked in singles: No. 20 Ange Oby Kajuru, No. 44 Gracie Epps, No. 88 Anastasiya Komar and No. 89 Marcela Lopez.
- The team has three ranked doubles duos: Oby Kajuru and Komar are No. 54, Rose Marie Nijkamp and Komar are No. 72 and Epps and Lopez are No. 73.
- The Cowgirls are 6-3 this season and last played at the ITA Indoor National Championships Feb. 7-9 where they were 1-2, with losses to Texas and LSU and a win over Illinois. Oklahoma State will play at Michigan Friday before traveling to Columbus.
- Ohio State last competed Feb. 14 against Duke, posting a 4-3 win. Audrey Spencer clinched the victory after prevailing in a third set tiebreaker.
- Teah Chavez and Nao Nishino continue to lead the Buckeyes with matching 5-0 records in dual match singles this season. Shelly Bereznyak and Luciana Perry each have four dual victories.
- Chavez is on a team-high seven-match winning streak and Nishino has five consecutive wins.
- Perry and Chavez are tied for the most overall wins at 18 each, with Nishino close behind at 17.
- As a team in singles, the Buckeyes are 5-0 on courts two and five this spring, with a 5-1 mark on court three. Courts one, four and six are each 4-2. Court three doubles is 4-1 to lead the way.
- Ohio State has won the doubles point in four of six matches.
- The Buckeyes start Big Ten play with home matches against Purdue at 1 p.m. Feb. 28 and Indiana at noon March 2 in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
- Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State home matches.
