No. 9 Buckeyes Post 4-0 Win over No. 16 Oklahoma State

Ohio State is now 6-1 this spring

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9-ranked Ohio State women's tennis team shut out No.16 Oklahoma State Sunday in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes are now 6-1 on the year and the Cowgirls are 6-5.

The Buckeye duo of Audrey Spencer and Nao Nishino posted the first win of the day over Oklahoma State's No. 73-ranked team to open doubles. Teah Chavez and Luciana Perry secured the doubles point for the Buckeyes with a win on court one.

Ohio State won the first three completed singles matches, with victories from Spencer, Perry and Bereznyak to bring the Buckeyes to a 4-0 victory.

How it Happened

The Buckeyes claimed the first doubles match, with the tandem of Audrey Spencer and Nao Nishino shutting out Oklahoma State's No. 73-ranked Gracie Epps and Marcela Lopez, 6-0, on court three.
After the Cowgirls won on court two, Luciana Perry and Teah Chavez took the victory on court one, 6-4, securing the doubles point for the Buckeyes.
No. 79-ranked Spencer posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Alian Zack on court six, bringing the Buckeyes to a 2-0 lead.
Perry, ranked No. 9, followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win over No. 88 Anastasiya Komar on court one for a 3-0 Buckeye advantage.
On court four, Shelly Bereznyak prevailed 6-1, 6-2 over No.44-ranked Epps, clinching the match for the Buckeyes.
Nishino and Sydni Ratliff were both leading in the second set of their singles matches when play was suspended. Chavez dropped her first set but was ahead in the second.
The tandem of Spencer and Nishino are 4-0 in doubles matches this spring. Perry and Chavez are 5-1 in dual matches.

The Schedule Ahead

The Buckeyes start Big Ten play with home matches against Purdue at 1 p.m. Friday and Indiana at noon Sunday in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
