
Chavez Selected B1G Athlete of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- For the second time this season, Teah Chavez of the Ohio State women's tennis team has been named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Chavez, from Regina, Saskatchewan, posted ranked singles and doubles wins to help the Buckeyes to a 4-3 win at No. 14 Duke last Friday.
Chavez and Luciana Perry downed the Blue Devils' No. 11 ranked team on court one in doubles, 6-4. In singles, No. 55 Chavez rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over No. 29 Emma Jackson to tie the team score, 1-1.Â
Chavez is 5-0 in dual match singles this spring.
The No. 17 Buckeyes open a three-match homestand Sunday when they host No. 13 Oklahoma State at noon. The Big Ten slate starts at home against Purdue Feb. 28 and Indiana March 2. Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State home matches in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
