
Buckeyes Ready to Host Big Ten Championships at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion

COLUMBUS, Ohio –The No. 14 Ohio State women's swimming and diving team competes in the Big Ten Championships this week, which will be hosted at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Wednesday, Feb. 19-Saturday, Feb. 22.

- Finals will begin at 5:00 p.m. each day, with prelims beginning Thursday-Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday's session will be finals only. Early heats of the 1650 free will begin at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, with the fastest heats during the 5:00 p.m. finals session.
- Doors will open one hour prior to each session.
- Parking will be available in the Tuttle or Lane Avenue Garages for $10, or in the East Stadium Lot where fans can pay by foot.
- All sessions of the Big Ten Championships will be streamed on B1G+.

- In addition to the Buckeyes, the competing teams are Illinois, No. 7 Indiana, Iowa, No. 10 Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, No. 23 UCLA, USC and No. 13 Wisconsin.

- The Buckeyes placed second at last year's Big Ten Championships, falling to winner Indiana by just half a point. Prior to that, Ohio State claimed four straight Big Ten titles.
- Ohio State won seven events at last year's conference championships; the 200 medley relay, 50 free, one-meter dive, 400 medley relay, 100 fly, 100 breast and 100 free.
- Nyah Funderburke and Teresa Ivan were both on the winning 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:33.47, which was a meet record and a pool record at Purdue's Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
- Funderburke was also on the Big Ten champion 400 medley relay team that turned in a time of 3:28.87 and she was the bronze medalist in the 100 back (51.68).
- Ivan won the gold medal in the 50 free with a time of 21.74. She was also on the third-place 400 free relay team (3:12.70).
- Lena Hentschel was the winner of the one-meter dive, claiming her first career Big Ten title with a score of 307.40.
- Krista Marlin won two bronze medals at last year's conference championships. She earned her medals in the 400 IM with a time of 4:09.46 and the 200 back with a time of 1:54.31.
- Freshman Mila Nikanorov has already qualified for the NCAA Championships with an NCAA A cut time of 15:49.26 in the 1650 free.
- The Buckeyes have also already qualified in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay and 200 medley relay.
- The women will host their last chance meet on Sunday, March 2. The NCAA Zone Diving Championships will be at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion March 10-12 and the NCAA Championships are March 19-22 in Washington.
