Buckeyes close out their Clearwater Invitational schedule tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Facing its third top-20 opponents in less than 24 hours, the Ohio State softball team fell to No. 14 Alabama on Saturday morning, 9-5, on a sun-soaked day in Clearwater, Fla. The Buckeyes are now 5-2 on the season and conclude play at the Clearwater Invitational tomorrow with contests against Clemson (10 a.m.) and UCF (1 p.m.).

The Short Story
The Buckeyes had a quick-starting offense on Saturday, as the very first batter of the game – Hadley Parisien – hit a solo home run to stake Ohio State to a 1-0 lead. The Tide, however, would answer with single runs in each of the first three innings and then put four on the board in the fourth inning to take a 7-1 lead.

Thanks to an RBI double off the bat of Reagan Milliken and a Alabama throwing error, Ohio State put the deficit to 7-3 in the top of the sixth inning and then threatened to come back in the seventh. Trailing 9-3, Jasmyn Burns and Milliken picked with RBI on a base loaded walk and hit by pitch. With the tying run at the plate, Alabama would record the final two outs of the game, however.

Starting pitcher Lorin Boutte went 3.2 innings and then gave way to fellow freshman Layna Gerhard, who finished out the final 2.1 innings on 44 pitches. At the plate, Parisien and Milliken each went 2-for-3.

The day at the plate for Milliken continues a stellar weekend for the senior. She is hitting .500 in the last three games (4-for-8) with a double and three RBI. Additionally, Kortokrax and Parisien are both hitting .400 this weekend.

Ohio State's game vs. Clemson will air live on ESPNU tomorrow morning beginning at 10 a.m. Following the conclusion of that contest, the Buckeyes will close out their weekend with a 1 p.m. game vs. UCF that is slated to air on ESPN+.
