COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 19/19 Ohio State women's basketball team (11-2, 1-1 B1G) fell to No. 4/4 UCLA (12-1, 2-0 B1G) by an 82-75 margin on Sunday afternoon in the Buckeyes' Big Ten home opener.
The first quarter featured back-and-forth action as UCLA held an 18-16 advantage after 10 minutes. The Bruins had the 21-17 advantage in the second quarter and led by a 39-33 margin at halftime. UCLA hit a half-court buzzer-beater to end the third quarter with a 63-56 lead. The Bruins led by as many as 16 points during the final quarter and the Buckeyes cut their deficit to as little as six points, but UCLA held on to win by an 82-75 margin.
Jaloni Cambridge was the only player in the game to reach double figures in the first half (16) and finished with a game-high 28 total points, her sixth 20-point performance of the season. T'yana Todd (season-high 16) and Elsa Lemmilä (13) joined J. Cambridge in double figures. Kennedy Cambridge tied her career-high eight rebounds.

- Q1: UCLA opened the game with the first seven points, but Ohio State tied the game at seven after the first four minutes. The score was tied again at 10 before a 6-0 Bruins run. The Buckeyes ended the quarter with a 6-2 run to trim their deficit to 18-16 after 10 minutes as Jaloni Cambridge had a shot roll in before the buzzer.
- Q2: The Bruins scored the first five points of the quarter before J. Cambridge reached double figures with a floater. UCLA used a 7-0 run to extend its lead to 30-20 at the midway point of the quarter. The Buckeyes cut the deficit to five at 32-27, but the Bruins responded with a 6-0 run to push their advantage to 38-27. Ohio State again ended the quarter with a 6-2 run, capped by a defensive stand from Kennedy Cambridge on the final possession of the half. The Buckeyes trailed 39-33 going into the locker room.
- Q3: Ohio State used a pair of three-pointers in the first two minutes of the quarter to get within two at 41-39. The teams traded baskets and the Bruins' lead was 49-44 midway through the frame. UCLA strung together six unanswered points to stretch its lead back to 10 points at 57-47. Todd beat the shot clock for a three-pointer and UCLA notched a buzzer-beater of its own to end the third quarter with the Bruins in front 63-56.
- Q4: UCLA opened the final frame with a 7-2 run to increase its lead to 70-58 and then led by a 74-60 margin with six minutes to play. Ohio State used a stretch of nine unanswered points to cut its deficit to 78-72 with 2:05 to play following a Lemmilä layup. Chance Gray converted a three-point play down the stretch as the Bruins capped the game's scoring at the charity stripe.
