Chacinski, Wetzel Named Preseason All-MIVA

Buckeyes tabbed No. 2 in league coaches poll
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Shane Wetzel along with sophomore Stanislaw Chacinski have been named to the preseason All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association squad by the league coaches. Ohio State is tabbed as the No. 2 team in the conference as well, the league office announced Monday.
The Buckeyes received two first-place votes in the preseason voting.
Wetzel, a 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American each of the last three seasons, was a first team All-MIVA a year ago. He enters the 2026 season with 1,018, good for the No. 16 spot all-time in Ohio State history.
Chacinski, the 2025 MIVA Newcomer of the Year, recorded 341 kills as a freshman. He was a first team All-MIVA and AVCA honorable mention All-American in his first season as a Buckeye.
Ohio State opens the 2026 season against Central State at the Covelli Center Jan. 8 (7 p.m./B1G+).
