Burnside tallies both Ohio State goals
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's hockey lost in overtime at Arizona State, 3-2, Friday afternoon in Mullett Arena in Tempe, Ariz.

The Buckeyes (5-8, 1-5 B1G) and Sun Devils (6-8-1, 3-4-1 NCHC) will end the weekend series at 7 p.m. ET Saturday in Tempe. The game will be streamed through NCHC.tv.

The Buckeyes' Davis Burnside opened the scoring in the first and the Sun Devils tied the game with a power play goal. Burnside's second of the game was the only tally of the second period. In the third, ASU tied the game with less than eight minutes remaining and the Sun Devils converted a two-man breakaway in overtime for the win.

How it Happened
- Buckeye captain Davis Burnside, who calls Arizona home, picked off a clearing attempt by the ASU goalie along the right boards, came around the high slot and scored from the left faceoff circle five minutes into the game for a 1-0 Buckeye lead.
- Arizona State converted its first power play chance to tie the game at 14:19 on a Cullen Potter goal.
- The teams combined for 22 shots in the first, with Ohio State ahead, 12-10.
- A second Burnside unassisted goal put Ohio State in the lead at 12:21 of the second. He got to a loose puck and scored from the faceoff circle.
- ASU had the edge in shots, 10-9, in the second, and Ohio State killed two Sun Devil power play chances.
- The Sun Devils' Noah Powell tied the game at 12:57 of the third.
- Each team had 10 shots on net in the third stanza. The Buckeyes had two power play chances in the third, and the penalty kill was 1-for-1 in the stanza.
