Moose Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Davis Burnside, who recently wrapped up a four-year career with the Ohio State men's hockey team, has signed with the AHL Manitoba Moose, the organization announced Thursday. He agreed to an American Hockey League contract through the 2026-27 season and will join the Moose on a professional tryout for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.
Burnside, a forward who calls Scottsdale, Ariz., home, was a two-time captain for the Scarlet and Gray. With four points in a series vs. Michigan Jan. 30-31, Burnside joined the Buckeye Century Club. He is the sixth Buckeye to hit the 100-point mark in the last 10 years and the first since Tanner Laczynski (2017-20). Burnside ended his career with 112 points on 49 goals and 63 assists in 155 career games, skating in every game over the last four years. He is eighth in career points among current Division I players (ranking fourth in the Big Ten) while tying for third nationally in career games played, ranking 25th in assists and standing 15th in gamewinning goals (8).
He was part of two NCAA tournament squads and made two appearances in the Big Ten Tournament final. He is second in Ohio State history in Big Ten Tournament games played with 16 and is tied for second with nine B1G tourney points (4g, 5a). He was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection in 2025. As a senior, Burnside was second on the team with 32 points (one off his career high set a year ago) and a career-high 20 assists, along with 12 goals.
A three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and four-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, Burnside is slated to earn his degree in sport industry this spring.
"He's the epitome of a Buckeye," Steve Rohlik, Ohio State head coach, said of Burnside. "He's a pro. He's been here four years. And he does everything the right way - on the ice, off the ice, in the classroom. He represents this university in a first class-manner every day. And to me, that's the thing as a coach you're most proud of."
