Buckeyes Close 2025 Schedule at Western Invite

Men and women both 2-1 on the daiy
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State fencing programs closed out the 2025 portion of their schedule on day two of the Western Invitational hosted by Air Force Academy in Colorado Sunday. The No.6-ranked Buckeye women and No. 5 men were both 2-1 on the day, posting wins over Brandeis and Incarnate Word and falling to No. 2 (women)/No. 1 (men) Columbia.Â
In the two-day event, the Buckeye women were 6-1, with the men 5-1. In the two days combined, Viktor Kulcsar led men's epee with a 10-2 mark, while Ayush Shah was 8-0, Matthew Buleau was 7-1 and Jakob Stange was 7-5. Lorenzo Mion was 10-5 to pace men's foil, with Solin Li 8-4. In men's sabre, Carter Berrio was first with seven wins and Avin Rai won six bouts.
For the women, Gloria Klughardt was 13-1 and Marie-Frederique Millette was 10-4 in epee. Natalia Botello had an 11-4 mark in sabre, while Grace Fan was 9-4. In women's foil, Lira Cannon and Masha Cojocari each had seven victories.
The Buckeye Men
The men downed Brandeis 17-10 and Incarnate Word 21-6 before they were clipped by No. 1 Columbia, 14-13. The men's foil and epee squads were both undefeated on the day and sabre was 1-2.Â
Viktor Kulcsar led the men's epeeists with a 10-2 ledger, with Matthew Buelau 7-1 and Jakob Stange 7-5. In men's foil, Lorenzo Mion, Soli Li and Mostafa Tahoun were all 4-2. Samuel Rightler led the sabre squad on Sunday with a 4-1 ledger.Â

Ohio State defeated Brandeis, 23-4, and Incarnate Word, 22-5, falling to No. 2 Columbia, 20-7. All three weapon squads were 2-1 for the women Sunday.
 Julia Semikin led epee with a 6-2 mark and Gloria Klughardt was 5-1. Lira Cannon and Masha Cojocari both posted four wins in women's foil and Natalia Botello paced women's sabre with four victories.
