Fencers Head East for First Events of 2026

Buckeyes will compete at St. John's Saturday, Penn Sunday
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State fencing squads are headed east for two events this weekend. The No. 5-ranked men and No. 7 women will compete in the St. John's Super Cup in Queens, N.Y., Saturday and in the Dave Micahnik Penn Invitational Sunday in Philadelphia.Â

Buckeye This and That
- In the midseason rankings released by the USFCA this week, the Buckeye men are ranked fifth, with the women seventh. The men were also No. 5 in the preseason poll, while the women were No. 6.Â
- Against all dual competition, the Buckeye men were 12-7 in the fall and the women posted a 15-6 record. Men's epee was a program-best 17-2 as a squad and women's epee was 15-6. Women's sabre posted a 14-7 ledger and the women's foil squad was 8-13. For the men, foil was 11-8 and sabre was 9-10.
- Seven Buckeyes are serving as captains this season - Natalia Botello, Matthew Bülau, Mitchell Huth, Raiyan Moradi-Bidhendi, Avin Rai, Samuel Rightler and Julia Semikin.Â
- The regular season ends Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the Schiller Duals hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Ill.Â
- The CCFC Championships will be hosted by Denison in Granville, Ohio, Feb. 21-22.Â
- Cleveland State will host the NCAA Regionals March 8 and the NCAA Championships will be hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., March 19-22.Â
