Ohio State returns to action next weekend at Arizona State
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's hockey team dropped game two of its series at No. 2 Michigan, 8-1, Saturday in Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Wolverines led 3-0 after the first period and 5-0 at the second intermission en route to the win.

Ohio State is now 5-7 on the year (1-5 B1G) and the Wolverines are 13-3 overall and 6-2 in the league. The teams will meet in Columbus to end the regular season series Jan. 30-31.

How it Happened
- Michigan opened the scoring 9:01 into the first period and extended the lead to 2-0 at 14:07, with Josh Eernisse and Kienan Draper tallying. Aidan Park then scored on the power play and the Wolverines led 3-0 after the first stanza.
- The Wolverines notched the only goals of the second, with even strength scores at 3:33 from Michael Hage and 7:22 from Will Horcoff.
- In the third, T.J. Hughes scored twice for Michigan for a 7-0 lead at 4:20 and 10:17 and Adam Valentine converted on the power play at 17:37.
- Thomas Weis converted a power play chance for Ohio State in the final minute to break up the shutout. The goal was Weis' first of the year and Felix Caron and Landen Gunderson had the helpers. The assist was the first collegiate point for Gunderson. Caron leads the Buckeyes with 11 points on the year.
- Michigan outshot the Buckeyes, 10-8, in the first period and the Buckeyes had the edge in the second, 16-9, and in the third, 15-11. For the game, Ohio State had the lead in shots, 39-30.
- Buckeye goalie Kristoffer Eberly played the first 27:22 and had 11 saves on 16 shots. Sam Hillebrandt closed out the contest, playing 32:35 and making 11 saves on 14 attempts.
- The Buckeyes, who were playing with five defensemen because of injuries, had 18 shot blocks in the game. Chris Able led the Scarlet and Gray with four. Michigan blocked 20 Ohio State attempts.
- Ohio State was 1-for-4 on the power play and Michigan was 2-for-3.
