
Buckeyes Fall to Top-Ranked Huskies on Road

Ohio State had three score in double figures in Sunday’s loss to the reigning national champions.
HARTFORD, Conn. – The RV/25 Ohio State women's basketball team (2-1) fell to No. 1 UConn (4-0) by a 100-68 margin on Sunday afternoon.
The first quarter featured sharp shooting by both teams and four lead changes as the Huskies led 27-24 at the end of the opening frame. UConn had the 23-6 advantage in the second quarter to build a 50-30 halftime lead. The Buckeyes scored 21 points in the third quarter but were trailing 79-51 after 30 minutes. The score was capped at 100-68 after a close fourth quarter.
Jaloni Cambridge was the first Buckeye to reach double figures and finished with 17 points, including the 500th point of her career. Kennedy Cambridge (10) and T'yana Todd (12) also scored in double figures. Kylee Kitts grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.

- Q1: The Huskies opened scoring on the opening possession and Jaloni Cambridge answered immediately. The teams traded baskets until the Buckeyes used a 7-0 run to take a 14-10 lead with 6:36 to play in the quarter. UConn answered with a 7-0 run of its own to take the lead back, 17-14, with 4:13 remaining. Each team regained the lead before the end of the quarter as UConn held the 27-24 advantage after 10 minutes.
- Q2: UConn scored the first eight points of the quarter to open up a 35-24 lead – the largest by either team in the game thus far. Kylee Kitts got the Buckeyes on the board in the quarter. The Huskies put together an 8-0 run late in the quarter to increase their lead to 47-30 and led by a 50-30 margin going into the locker room.
- Q3: The Huskies scored the third quarter's first five points before J. Cambridge got the Buckeyes on the board with a three-point play. UConn increased its lead to 65-33 with 6:44 to play in the quarter. Ohio State responded with an extended 13-2 run to trim the deficit to 67-46 after a three-pointer from Kitts. UConn used a 10-0 run down the stretch to lead 79-51 after 30 minutes.
- Q4: Ohio State began the final quarter with baskets from J. Cambridge and Chance Gray. Neither team put together a long run in the quarter as the teams traded points. UConn capped scoring with free throws at 100-68.
- This is the second season in a row that the Buckeyes have faced the No. 1 team in the country on the road. Last season, Ohio State visited UCLA on Feb. 5 in Los Angeles.
- For the third time in three games this season, Jaloni Cambridge scored in double figures. She was the first Buckeye to score 10 points and finished with 17 total points. She surpassed 500 career points.
- Kennedy Cambridge scored in double figures for the sixth time in her career, totaling 10 points.
- Kylee Kitts grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds. She's the second Buckeye in three games this season to record a 10-rebound game.
- T'yana Todd had her first double-figure game as a Buckeye with 12 points. This is her 61st double-figure performance of her career.
- Q1: Ohio State started the game hot, making its first 6-of-7 (.857) shots from the floor. The Buckeyes shot 10-of-15 (.667) during the quarter and were 4-of-6 (.667) from deep.
- Q3: The Buckeyes scored more than 20 points for the second quarter of the game.
- Ohio State returns home to face Kent State on Wednesday for Our Honor Defend Military Appreciation Night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in a game broadcast live on B1G+.
