COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will open Big Ten Tournament play on Thursday afternoon when it takes on Illinois. The opening round match, which is being hosted by Purdue, will kickoff at 4:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on B1G+.
- The Buckeyes finished in a tie for sixth in the Big Ten Standings and will be the No. 9 seed in the tournament.
- This is the 23rd Big Ten Tournament appearance for the Buckeyes, who have an all-time record of 14-17-5 with three titles in 2002, 2004 and 2012.
- Ohio State is 1-0-1 all-time against Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament. The teams drew 1-1 in 2011 with Illinois advancing on PKs and then the Buckeyes won 2-1 in the championship game in 2012, claiming the program's third and most recent Big Ten Tournament title.
- Overall, the Buckeyes lead the all-time series 12-5-4, including a 7-1-3 record in the last 11 matchups.
- The teams met earlier this year in Champaign on Sept. 28 and the Buckeyes scored three second half goals to run away with a 3-0 victory. Ava Bramblett notched the first multi-goal game of her career and Elle Britt capped the scoring in the 77th minute with her second goal of the season.
- The Buckeyes are coming off a tough 2-0 setback at Penn State on Sunday in the regular season finale.
- Ohio State has given up just 10 goals all season and is in the Top 15 nationally in both goals-against average and save percentage. The program record for fewest goals allowed in a season in 13.
- Excluding the 2021 spring COVID season, the three losses through the regular season ties a program record.
- Senior goalkeeper Molly Pritchard allowed two goals in a game for the first time all season on Sunday. She is seventh nationally with a 0.458 goals-against average and has made 55 saves this year. For her career, she has made 283 stops, which is tied for third in program history.
- Junior Amanda Schlueter leads the team offensively with eight goals and four assists for 20 points.
