ITA Midwest Regionals This Week in Illinois

NCAA berths on the line
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Urbana, Ill., are up next for the Ohio State women's tennis team. Hosted by Illinois, the tournament includes singles prequalifying Thursday, with main draw action in both singles and doubles Friday through Tuesday.

The ITA Midwest Regional has a 64 player singles qualifying draw, with a 64 player singles main draw and 64 team doubles main draw. The two singles finalists and the doubles champion will earn a spot in the NCAA Championships. Read more on the Path to the NCAA Championships

The Buckeyes in Action
Megan Basil is in the singles qualifying draw and can earn a main draw spot with two wins Thursday. Alessia Cau, Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev, Flora Johnson, Nao Nishino, Hephzibah Oluwadare and Audrey Spencer have already secured singles main draw slots. In doubles, Cau and Spencer, Cisse-Ignatiev and Johnson and Nishino and Oluwadare will pair up.
Earlier this fall, Teah Chavez and Luciana Perry both clinched NCAA singles berths by reaching the quarterfinals at the ITA All-American Championships. They are both competing in professional tournaments this week – Chavez at the 35K in Quebec City and Perry at the 35K in Bakersfield, Calif.
