How it Happened
- It took under a minute for Ohio State to take the lead on Friday as Sanni Vanhanen scored 58 seconds into the game. She knocked in a rebounded shot by Sloane Matthews past Beaver goaltender Kaitlin Groess for the game-winning goal. Â
- Less than a minute later, the Buckeyes went on the power play and Jocelyn Amos needed just six seconds to score her first power play goal of the year. She won the initial faceoff and after finding her way in front of the Beaver net, Amos put a pass from Kassidy Carmichael behind Groess at 1:54 for the 2-0 lead.
- Matthews made it 3-0 at 4:21 in the first, capitalizing on her third shot of the day off an assist from behind the net from Maxine Cimoroni.
- The Buckeyes were quiet until 13:03 when Amos tallied her second goal of the day. She XX forecheck in the Beavers' zone and snuck the puck past the goal line to give the Buckeyes the 4-0 lead at first intermission.
- Jordyn Petrie lit the lamp first for Ohio State in the second period, scoring at 7:11 through traffic to put the Buckeyes up 5-0.
- Sara Swiderski added her second goal in as many games off a smooth hand off from linemate Mira Jungaker at 11:38 to give Ohio State its ultimate 6-0 win.
- No goals were scored in the third as MacLeod made six saves in the frame to hold Bemidji State scoreless to record the Buckeyes' first shutout of the season.
- Scoring the first goal of the game, Vanhanen recorded her first career goal in her first official game at the OSU Ice Rink.
- Amos' tallied her first multi-goal game of the season, and eighth of her career, with two goals in Friday's win.
- MacLeod's record improves to 3-0-0 on the year and picks up her fourth career shutout as a Buckeye.
- Ohio State allowed just one shot on goal in a period for the second time in six games. The last time an opponent was held to a single shot in a period was St. Lawrence in the second period of the NCAA regional final game on March 25, 2025. Â Â
- Maxine Cimoroni and Jenna Raunio led the team with two assists each for their first multi-point games of their careers. Cimoroni, Vanhanen and Brooke Disher were a team-high +3 on ice.
