Has earned back-to-back All-America honors as a Buckeye
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State graduate student Makenna Webster was named to the 37-member United States National Team by U.S. Field Hockey on Tuesday afternoon. The team was selected by head coach David Passmore.
"The start of an Olympic Games cycle is always an exciting time, and this group brings lots of young talent to add to a group of experienced athletes, many of whom now have games under their belt," said Passmore.
Webster, who was a unanimous first team All-Big Ten performer this fall and a second team All-American, took part in the Germany Series with the United States team in November. She has pervious USA Field Hockey experience with the U17 national team (2018-19).
In three seasons with the Buckeyes, Webster scored over 100 points and had back-to-back 40-point seasons in 2023 and 2024. She had 89 points in the last two seasons, including a 16-goal, 10-assist effort this fall. Just as importantly, her play helped the Buckeyes win: Ohio State had a 28-11 record in the last two seasons. This fall, the Buckeyes got off to their best-ever start and achieved their highest national ranking in program history.
Currently, Webster is in the midst of her ice hockey season with the Buckeyes, who are 20-5-3 and ranked No. 2 nationally. Webster has played in 18 games and has 15 points (six goals, nine assists). She had an assist in each of Ohio State's wins last weekend at home vs. Minnesota State.
