COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1/5 Ohio State women's hockey team picked up its first win of the season Friday night, defeating Bemidji State, 8-2, at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn. Six different players scored and 11 recorded a point for the Buckeyes (1-2-0, 1-2-0 WCHA) in the win over the Beavers (0-1-0, 0-1-0 WCHA).

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1/5 Ohio State women's hockey team picked up its first win of the season Friday night, defeating Bemidji State, 8-2, at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn. Six different players scored and 11 recorded a point for the Buckeyes (1-2-0, 1-2-0 WCHA) in the win over the Beavers (0-1-0, 0-1-0 WCHA).
How it Happened
- Ohio State scored three goals on its first three shots on goal. Makenna Webster tallied the first Buckeye shot on goal and goal at 2:02 into the game. She was assisted by Jenna Buglioni and Maddi Wheeler. Four minutes later, Josie St. Martin found the back of the net on just her second shot on goal of her career off assists from Emma Peschel and Kiara Zanon. Ohio State's third shot on target came from Zanon, who connected with Jocelyn Amos on a give-and-go and beat Bemidji State goaltender Josie Bothun for the 3-0 lead.
- The Buckeyes' added two more goals in the first period. Buglioni scored at 12:19 with assists from Brooke Disher and Riley Brengman. Webster scored her second of the day at 13:40 with Wheeler assisting.
- After the opening frame, the team tallied five goals, with the first four coming off the first five shots on goal.
- Second period scoring started with Amos at 2:24 after Peschel skated the puck behind the Beavers net and found Amos waiting at the dot to send it past Bothun.
- Bemidji State's first goal came at 10:29 in the second with Hailey Armstrong scoring shorthanded on the Buckeyes to cut Ohio State's lead to five.
- Jordyn Petrie added her second goal of the day on the power play at 14:40, just four seconds into the man-up advantage. A faceoff taken by Buglioni and won by Ohio State went to Webster, across the zone to Peschel who took a long shot from the point and Petrie was there redirect it into the net to put the Buckeyes up 7-1 at the second intermission.
- The Beavers added another goal at 4:52 in the third, but Ohio State countered that with another goal from Petrie at 9:43 to put Ohio State ahead, 8-2.
- Emma Peschel led the team with a career-high four points on a career-high four assists on Friday night.
- Brooke Disher (1A), Grace McCoshen (1A) and Josie St. Martin (1G) recorded their first points as Buckeyes in the game.
- Jordyn Petrie and Makenna Webster led the team with two goals apiece. Webster added an assist for three points on the day, her first of the season. Petrie recorded her first multi-goal game of her career and tallied her first career power play goal.
- Petrie's power play goal is the Buckeyes' second in as many games. The team went 1-for-3 on the power play Friday.
- Goaltender Amanda Thiele picked up her first win of the season, making eight saves for Ohio State.
