How it Happened
It was a scoreless first half, but it wasn’t without action. The Buckeyes had a number of good looks, including a shot off the post and two shots off the crossbar. Northwestern was able to put just one shot on frame in the first 45 minutes.
Early in the second half, Northwestern earned a free kick and scored on its first shot attempt to take a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute.
Northwestern packed it in and was up to the task for most of the second half. But thanks to Schlueter and Bramblett, the Buckeyes were able to break through. After a NW save, Schlueter swooped in and stole the ball from a Northwestern defender inside the box and slipped a shot past the keeper to even the game in the 85th minute.
Now with momentum, Kailyn Dudukovich got a ball at midfield and fed a pass to Bramblett in the middle of the field. She took a couple of touches and lasered a shot from outside the box with just under a minute to play. It beat the keeper, and the Buckeyes would go on to a 2-1 victory.
