COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sunday will be a special day at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Not only will No. 17 Ohio State host Big Ten foe Northwestern, but the program will honor its alumni and recognize the record-setting 2004 team. That year, Ohio State won the Big Ten Tournament title and set program records for wins, goals, assists and shutouts.
Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State women’s home matches.
Ohio State continues its four-match homestand on Sunday by hosting Northwestern on BTN.
- The Buckeyes are 17-8-3 all-time against Northwestern, including a 13-3-2 mark in Columbus.
- The teams did not play last season and met in the final game of the regular season in both 2021 and 2022. In 2021 in Evanston, Ohio State came away with a 2-1 victory that secured a spot in the Big Ten Tournament. Kayla Fischer scored in the 55th minute and then Sydney Jones collected her first collegiate goal on a PK in the71st minute to give the Buckeyes the victory. In 2022, the Wildcats got their revenge in Columbus with a 2-0 victory.
- Northwestern enters the contest with an overall record of 5-4-1 and a 0-2-0 mark in the Big Ten. The Wildcats are coming off a 1-0 setback at Penn State on Thursday night. Northwestern is led in scoring by freshman forward Kennedy Roesch who has four goals and an assist through 10 matches.
- Ohio State is coming off a 1-1 draw with No. 17 Iowa on Thursday night. The Buckeyes got a goal from Amanda Schlueter in the ninth minute and Iowa was able to even the match in the 68th. The Buckeyes had a late flurry but couldn't find the back of the net.
- The Buckeyes are ranked for the fifth-consecutive week in the USC Coaches Poll, checking in at No. 20. The first RPI of the season was released on Sept. 16 and the Buckeyes are at No. 5, the second-highest Big Ten team behind Michigan State.
- Sophomore Amanda Schlueter has five goals and three assists over the last five matches. She is tied with Kailyn Dudukovich for the team lead in points with 16.
- Dudukovich tops the team with eight goals on the season. She scored a pair of goals in the first Big Ten match at Indiana last week.
- Sophomore Ava Bramblett recorded her first career assist in the win at Indiana and then scored her first goal of the season in the win over Brown last week. She has also been a rock on the back line, helping the team record five total shutouts.
- Junior goalkeeper Molly Pritchard has a 0.37 GAA, surrendering just three goals on the year. She has been named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season.
- The Buckeyes have 18 freshmen and sophomores on the roster with seven of their 11 starters are underclassmen.
