
Buckeyes Representing Team USA at World Lacrosse Box Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State women's lacrosse alumna Riley Ewing ('21) and current assistant coaches Ally Kennedy and Tianna Wallpher are part of the Team USA squad that is competing in the inaugural World Lacrosse Box Championships. The tournament runs Sept. 20-29 in Utica, N.Y. All Team USA pool play games will be streamed through World Lacrosse TV. Women's playoff games will be on ESPN+, with the gold medal game on ESPN2.
The United States is one of 10 countries in the women's tournament, with two five-team pools. The top three teams in each poll receive a bye into the quarterfinals, with the remaining teams playing a crossover game to determine the final two playoff spots. Pool play is Sept. 20-24, with the play-in games Sept. 25, quarterfinals Sept. 26, semifinals Sept. 27, bronze medal game Sept. 28 and gold medal game Sept. 29.Â
Team USA will play the Netherlands at 4 p.m. Sept. 20, the Haudenosaunee at 7 p.m. Sept. 21, Hong Kong, China at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 22 and England at 1 p.m. Sept. 24.
Ewing, who plays transition for Team USA, was a Buckeye from 2018-21 and is now an assistant coach at George Mason. She is in the Top 10 in program history with 119 career draw controls and saw action in 55 games in the Scarlet and Gray, with five goals and two assists for seven points.Â
Kennedy, a three-time All-American at Stony Brook and the 2021 IWLCA Midfielder of the Year, plays transition for Team USA. She was part of the U.S. field team that won the 2022 world championship, scoring 11 goals in the tournament. In her second year on the Buckeye staff, she also has been a part of Athletes Unlimited for four seasons.Â
Wallpher, a defender, was an All-American and three-time All-CAA player at Towson. The second-year Buckeye assistant has played professionally in the WPLL, earning all-star status, and Athletes Unlimited.Â
