Buckeyes Head to Minnesota for Roy Griak Invitational

Ohio State will race Friday in Minneapolis, with race on RunnerSpace and B1G+
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's and women's cross country teams are heading to Minnesota for the Roy Griak Invitational. The race will be run at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn., Friday.

The men's 8K will start at 11 a.m. ET, followed by the women's 6K at 11:45 a.m. ET. B1G+ and RunnerSpace will broadcast the race and live results will be HERE.

- Ohio State opened the season Aug. 30 in Akron's Tommy Evans Invitational. The men finished first, with seven runners in the Top 10, while the women were the runner-up and had five finishers in the Top 22.
- Redshirt freshman Jack Agnew, in his first official collegiate race, crossed the line second and was honored as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performance leading the Buckeyes.
- Katie Castelli, in her debut race as a Buckeye after three years at Santa Clara, was the first finisher for the Buckeye women.
- Freshmen Weston Day and Connor Long for the men and Hailey Kahl and Jessica Derickson for the women made their collegiate debuts at Akron. For the women, sophomores Teodora Iova and Mia Robillard and seniors Carina Napoleon and Lindsay Stull ran in their first cross country meet for the Scarlet and Gray, as did junior transfer Emmi Von Scherr.
- In the USFTFCCCA regional rankings released this week, the Buckeye women are fifth in the Great Lakes Region, behind Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Toledo. Ohio State's men are 13th in the region, with B1G schools No. 3 Wisconsin, No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Michigan State, No. 6 Indiana and No. 7 Purdue in the Top 10.Â
- The women returned nine of 12 runners from last year's Big Ten Championships, where the women placed fifth as a team. Among the returnees are Addie Engel, who won her second B1G title in 2023, and Daniella Santos, who earned All-Big Ten honors for the second year in a row with a Top 8 finish. Andrea Kuhn was a 2022 All-B1G honoree and was fourth for Ohio State last year.
- For the men, eight of the 10 runners who raced in the conference championships a season ago are back, including four of the five counters. The men were seventh at the B1G race as a team, led by Zubin Jha who placed 18th.
- Jha and Santos were named B1G Preseason Runners to Watch entering the 2024 campaign.
- The Buckeyes will return to action at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational Oct. 4 and then close out the regular season with Pre-Nationals at Wisconsin Oct. 19. Â
- The postseason starts at the Big Ten Championships Nov. 1 in Champaign, Ill., with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships Nov. 15 in Norton, Ohio, and the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wis., Nov. 23.
