COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 20 Ohio State netted a pair of first half goals and would go on to record its fifth shutout of the season, beating visiting Brown on Sunday 2-0.
The Buckeyes close non-conference play and hold a 6-1-1 overall record while Brown falls to 2-2-3.
Sophomores Ava Bramblett and Amanda Schlueter registered the goals. For Bramblett, it was her first of the season while Schlueter scores her four goal in the last four games.
Junior keeper Molly Pritchard made six saves and recorded her seventh career shutout. As a team, the Buckeyes have five shutouts in eight matches this season, matching the shutout total from all of last season.
How it Happened
The Buckeyes opened the scoring early, in the fifth minute, as Ella Giannola played a beautiful corner kick into the box where Ava Bramblett timed her run perfectly and headed a shot home inside the back post. That was her first goal of the season while Giannola collected her third assist.
They then made it 2-0 as Bramblett played a ball across the field that Sydney Jones corralled and played it forward to Amanda Schlueter. Schlueter then took a couple touches and hit a nice left-footed bending shot into the upper 90 for her fifth goal of the season.
Brown looped the ball forward most of the second half and actually would lead 13-10 on shots for the game but the Buckeyes defense stood strong, limiting Brown’s chances.
