
Asemota, Bertrand and Olatoye Wrap Up Olympic Competition

Three Buckeyes from the track & field program wrapped up competition at the Olympics in Paris.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team saw its competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics end on Thursday with the women's 4x100m relay. Rising senior sprinter Leah Bertrand represented Trinidad & Tobago in the 100m and 4x100m relay, while alumnus Duan Asemota ran the 100m for Canada and was an alternate on their 4x100m relay. Sade Olatoye competed in the hammer throw for Nigeria.
Leah Bertrand (Trinidad & Tobago)
- 100m: Leah Bertrand finished third (11.27) in her first-round heat to advance to the semifinals. She ran 11.37 in the semifinals.
- 4x100m relay: Bertrand ran the anchor leg of the relay that finished with a time of 43.99 in the qualifying rounds to conclude her Olympics competition slate. She posted the fastest leg (10.29) among her team.
Duan Asemota (Canada)
- 100m: In the first round, Duan Asemota finished fifth (10.17) in his heat and 29th overall, missing the final qualifying spot by less than 0.01 seconds.
- 4x100m relay: Asemota helped qualify Team Canada into the 4x100m relay for the Olympics. Â
Sade Olatoye (Nigeria)
- Hammer throw: In the qualifying rounds, Sade Olatoye's best mark was 66.41m / 217'10.57".
