Buckeyes Receive ITA Academic Team and Individual Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State women's tennis team was recognized with an ITA All-Academic Team award, with seven Buckeyes earning ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Monday. This is the 15th time in program history, and the seventh year in a row, the squad received the award.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade-point average of 3.2 or better, when factoring all letterwinners into the cumulative grade-point average for the current academic year. ITA Scholar-Athletes must have a grade-point average of 3.5 or better for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

Irina Cantos Siemers, who was just named an assistant coach for the Buckeye program, earned her fifth ITA Scholar-Athlete honor and Akanksha Bhan is now a four-time selection (with two at Columbia). Shelly Bereznyak and Sydni Ratliff each collected their third career honor and Madeline Atway and Megan Basil were honored for the second year in a row. Freshman Audrey Spencer is a first-time honoree.
