U.S. Olympic Team Trials Updates

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Over the next week, 31 current, former and incoming members of the Ohio State swimming and diving team will compete at U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
Swimming will take place June 15-23 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. and diving will be held June 17-23 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

Women's 100 Fly
- Katherine Zenick placed 45th in the 100 fly prelims with a time of 1:00.17.
- Morgan Kraus touched the wall at 1:00.28 to finish 47th in prelims.
- In 400 free prelims, incoming Buckeye Mila Nikanorov finished 16th with a personal-best time of 4:11.57.
- Maya Geringer finished 24th with a time of 4:13.67, which is her personal-best.
- Karl Helmuth placed 67th in prelims, finishing in 1:02.51.
- Mason Edmund finished tied for 41st in prelims with a time of 3:55.93.
- Will Bansberg turned in a personal-best time of 4:22.35 in 400 IM prelims. He placed 27th overall.
- Mason Edmund (4:26.23) and Nathan Holty (4:26.24) finished 46th and 47th, respectively.
- Hannah Bach advanced to Sunday night's 100 breast semifinals after racing to a ninth-place finish in prelims with a time of 1:08.05. Bach placed 13th overall in the semifinals, swimming a time of 1:08.56.
- Josephine Panitz finished 17th in prelims with a time of 1:08.96.
- Reese Dehen swam a time of 1:10.31 in prelims to finish 31st.
- Former Buckeye Hunter Armstrong placed first in the 100 back prelims with a time of 52.95 to advance to Sunday night's semifinals. In the semifinals, Armstrong touched the wall at 53.57 to finish fourth and punch his ticket to Monday night's finals. Armstrong placed second in finals with a time of 52.72. He will find out if he secured a spot in Paris when the Team USA roster is announced later this week.
- Incoming Buckeye Martin Perecinsky finished in 55.49 during prelims and placed 39th.
- Amy Fulmer placed 23rd in 100 back prelims, turning in a time of 1:01.38.
- Krista Marlin swam a personal-best time of 1:01.74 and finished 30th.
- Morgan Kraus (1:02.54) placed 47th and Nyah Funderburke (1:02.88) placed 55th.
- Charlie Clark swam the 800 free in 7:56.63 during prelims to place ninth, just one spot shy of advancing to finals. However, another swimmer scratched on Tuesday morning, moving Clark into the eighth spot in Tuesday night's finals. Clark finished sixth in his first career Olympic Trials final, turning in a time of 7:57.28.
- Mason Edmund finished 44th in prelims with a time of 8:12.18.
- Hunter Armstrong advanced to the 100 free semifinals after a fourth-place finish in prelims with a time of 47.93. In the semifinals, he finished fourth with a time of 47.59 to move on to Wednesday night's finals. He punched his ticket to the Paris Olympics as part of Team USA's 4x100 free relay team with a fourth-place finish in finals with a personal-best time of 47.78.
- Former Buckeye Josh Fleagle (49.74) finished 38th in the morning session.
- Evan Fentress was right behind Fleagle, finishing 39th with a personal-best time of 49.86.
- Daniel Baltes recorded a personal-best time of 50.24 and placed 53rd.
- Maya Geringer finished the 1500 free in a personal-best time of 16:26.66 to place ninth in prelims.
- Mila Nikanorov finished 10th with a personal-best time of 16:27.05.
- Gwen Woodbury touched the wall at 16:45.35 to place 24th.
- Amy Fulmer finished 22nd in prelims with a time of 55.00.
- Incoming Buckeye Rachel Bockrath tied for 42nd place with a time of 55.88.
- Katherine Zenick's time of 55.92 put her in 44th place.
- Karl Helmuth earned a 36th-place finish in prelims with a personal-best time of 2:14.92.
- Billy Regan also recorded a personal-best; he swam the 200 breast in 2:15.13 and finished in 40th place.
- Josephine Panitz placed 20th in the 200 breast prelim with a time of 2:31.37.
- Reese Dehen turned in a time of 2:33.20 and finished 34th.
- Incoming Buckeye Martin Perecinsky swam a personal-best time of 1:58.24 to place ninth in prelims and advance to Wednesday night's semifinals. He finished 16th in semifinals with a time of 2:00.98.
- Krista Marlin swam a personal-best time of 2:10.26 in 200 back prelims to finish 10th and qualify for her first career Olympic Trials semifinal. In the semifinal, Marlin finished 13th with a time of 2:10.35.
- Daniel Baltes clinched a spot in his first career Olympic Trials semifinal with a tied-for-15th place finish in the 50 free prelims. He recorded a career-best time of 22.28. He improved on his personal-best time in the semifinal, turning in a time of 22.14 to place 11th overall.
- Mario McDonald placed tied for 39th in prelims with a time of 22.71.
- Incoming Buckeye Matthew Klinge (23.07) tied for 71st place and alum Andrew Loy (23.10) placed 74th.
- Will Bansberg touched the wall at a personal-best time of 2:02.62 to place 44th in prelims.
- Clayton Chaplin advanced to the platform semifinals after placing 14th in prelims with a score of 297.05. He clinched a spot in the final Saturday night after finishing 10th in the semifinals with an aggregate score of 342.75. In his first career final, Chaplin placed 10th with an overall score of 675.65.
- Evan Fentress will swim in the 100 fly semifinals after placing 16th with a personal-best time of 52.56 in prelims. Fentress improved on his personal-best in the semifinals, swimming a time of 52.27 to place 13th overall.
- Krista Marlin swam the 200 IM in 2:16.17 to finish 25th in prelims.
- Mila Nikanorov finished ninth in the 800 free prelims, just one spot shy of advancing to finals. She turned in a personal-best time of 8:35.36.
- Maya Geringer recorded a personal-best time of 8:40.91 to finish 15th in prelims.
- Gwen Woodbury placed 29th with a time of 8:47.55.
- Clayton Chaplin (335.25) and Jack Matthews (331.85) both qualified for the 3-meter semifinals. Chaplin placed 13th in prelims and Matthews finished 18th. Chaplin advances to his second final; he placed 10th with a score of 363.25. Matthews placed 13th, one place shy of a spot in finals; he recorded a score of 349.15. Chaplin placed 12th in finals with an aggregate score of 676.75.
- Lyle Yost placed 24th in prelims with a score of 317.35.
- Janie Boyle earned an eighth-place finish in platform prelims with a score of 241.50 to advance to the semifinals. She placed 14th in semifinals with a score of 226.50.
- Amy Fulmer advanced to Saturday night's semifinals after tying for 15th place with a time of 25.20 in prelims. She finished 15th in the semifinals with a time of 25.23.
- Katherine Zenick finished 46th in prelims with a time of 25.69.
- Charlie Clark turned in a time of 15:04.77 to place third in prelims and advance to Saturday's finals. Clark turned in a time of 15:12.60 in the finals to place sixth.
