Ohio State ties with Nebraska for the most honorees among conference softball programs
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seventeen members of the Ohio State softball team have been named Academic All-Big Ten, the conference office announced on Wednesday. The Buckeyes tied with Nebraska for the most Academic All-Big Ten honors of any softball program in the conference.
To be eligible, students must have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Two members of the team earned the distinction for the fifth time in their respective careers: Sam Hackenbracht and Tegan Cortelletti. Both have already earned their undergraduate degrees and will soon complete the master's of sports coaching program. Additionally, Hackenbracht was one of eight softball students conference-wide to have a perfect 4.0 grade point average this past year.
Wednesday's honors wrap up what was a remarkable year in the classroom for the 2024 Buckeyes. As a team, Ohio State had a 3.54 grade-point average, including a 3.66 during the spring semester. Four players – Allison Smith, Kami Kortokrax, Tegan Cortelletti and Kirsten Eppele – were College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees.
