COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State's Allison Smith, Kami Kortokrax, Tegan Cortelletti and Kirsten Eppele have all earned spots on the 2024 Academic All-District softball teams for 2024, the College Sports Communicators announced today.
The 2024 Academic All-District softball teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
With their selection, the four advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America voting, with Division I winners to be announced later in June. To be eligible for all-district honors, nominees must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a 3.50 or better cumulative grade-point average and compete in 90 percent or more of the institution's games/contests.
Smith graduated earlier in May with her degree in biomedical engineering and will continue work towards a master's degree this fall. She was also an All-Big Ten and All-Region selection after leading the team in wins (18), strikeouts (137), earned run average (2.53) and innings pitched (160.1).
Kortokrax, a communications major, was a first team All-Big Ten honoree following a season in which she hit .318 with 12 home runs, 12 doubles and 42 RBI.
Cortelletti has already earned her undergraduate degree in criminology and criminal justice and earlier this month graduated with a master's degree in sport coaching. She had the best statistical season of her career in 2024, hitting .394 with a team-high 37 runs scored and 15 stolen bases.
Eppele, a senior who recently graduated with her degree in health sciences, started 48 games last season in the outfield and was second on the team in home runs (11), RBI (37) and slugging percentage (.608).
