
Abeln, Leverett & Korkhin Headed to Summer Olympic Games

Abeln and Korkhin are first-time Olympians, Leverett goes for the second time
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Three members of the national championship-winning Ohio State pistol team have punched their tickets to the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. Katelyn Abeln will compete in the women's 10m air pistol and 25m sport pistol, Henry Leverett qualified in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol and Ada Korkhin has earned a spot in the 25m women's sport pistol.
Abeln will be making her Olympic debut in Paris. A Douglasville, Georgia, native qualified in women's 25-meter sport pistol this past March and in women's 10-meter air p10istol in January. Abeln was on the 2023 World Championship team and has been a member of four national championships while at Ohio State. This past March, she won the sport pistol and standard pistol while also having the top overall aggregate score at the Intercollegiate Pistol Championships in Ft. Moore, Ga.
Leverett will be making his second Olympic appearance in the men's rapid fire pistol. He also qualified for the Olympic Games held in Tokyo in 2021. In addition to being on three national championship teams at Ohio State, Leverett also won a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games and eanred the United States in Olympic quote in rapid fire pistol. At the 2022 Championships of the Americans, he was the gold medal winner in the 25m standard pistol mixed team and silver medalist in the 25m rapid fire pistol.
Korkhin, who is from Brookline, Mass., will be making her first appearance at the Olympic Games. A freshman, she was the champion of air pistol at the 2024 Intercollegiate Pistol Championships and has competed at a host of high-profile events, including the 2022 Winter Air Gun Championships, the 2022 ISSF World Championships and 2022 USA Shooting Pistol National Championships.
A total of eight current or former student-athletes have qualified for the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. They are:
