
Ohio State Hosts Ohio Wednesday Evening in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team will take a brief break from conference play when it hosts in-state foe Ohio on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. The game will be carried live on BTN+ and live stats will be available on the schedule page of OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

Buckeye in a Nutshell
- Ohio State is 19-15 on the season and will be seeking their third home win of the season. They last played at Buckeye Field on Sunday, March 31 when they picked up a 6-0 victory over Northwestern.
- In games last weekend at Minnesota, Ohio State hit four home runs to bring its season total to 42, which is second-most in the Big Ten.
- Four players have six or more homers: Kami Kortokrax (eight), Jasmyn Burns (seven), Sam Hackenbracht (six) and Kirsten Eppele (six).
- Graduate student Tegan Cortelletti collected six hits last weekend to raise her batting average to .458. Cortelletti's 44 hits this season is tied for the fifth-most among Big Ten players.
- Six other everyday starters are hitting .290 or better through 34 games: Taylor Heckman (.333), Kaitlyn Farley (.313), Jasmyn Burns (.303), McKenzie Bump (.295), Hannah Church (.293) and Kami Kortokrax (.292).
- In the circle, all five pitchers on this year's roster have tossed 19 or more innings thus far. Senior Allison Smith leads the way with a 2.80 earned-run average and 95.0 innings of work and 78 strikeouts.
Scouting Ohio
- The Bobcats, who are coached for former Ohio State assistant coach Jenna Hall, improved to 20-18 on the season last weekend with a doubleheader sweep at home against Northern Illinois.
- Overall, Ohio has won seven consecutive games – all against MAC competition – and are 8-6 in conference play.
- Yasmine Logan, a senior, is Ohio's top power hitter. She enters Wednesday's game with a .963 OPS, team-high seven home runs and 27 RBI.
- Pitchers Skipp Miller and Mikie Lieving have combined to throw 216.2 on the team's 245.2 innings so far this season. Miller's ERA is a team-best 2.63 while Lieving checks in at 3.43.
Buckeye/Bobcat Connections
- Hall was Ohio State's hitting coach from 2013 through 2019 and coached one of the Buckeyes' best-ever hitters: Lilli Piper, who is now Hall's assistant coach with the Bobcats.
- Hall and Piper were part of three teams that were selected for NCAA Regional appearances (2017-19).
