Buckeye Trio Earns All-Big Ten Second Team Honors at Big Ten Event Finals

The Buckeyes wrapped up action at the Big Ten Championships on Saturday in the State Farm Center.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 6 Ohio State men's gymnastics team (9-7, 1-3 B1G) wrapped up competition at the Big Ten Championships on Saturday evening with the individual event finals.Â
Kameron Nelson, Caden Spencer and Parker Thackston were all named to the All-Big Ten Second Team after finishing second or third in an event.
Event Results
Pommel Horse
ROUTINE: Thackston earned a 14.525 on pommel horse as the first Buckeye to compete in the individual finals. He was the runner-up in the event.
Rings
ROUTINE: Nelson's ring routine was good for 13.725 and ninth place.
Vault
ROUTINE: Nelson's vault was good for 14.700 and a tie for runner-up.
ROUTINE: Kazuki Hayashi earned a 14.350 to finish eighth.
Parallel Bars
ROUTINE: Spencer tied his second-best score of the season (14.050) to finish in a tie for third place.
ROUTINE: Jakob Murray stuck his dismount for a 13.450, good for ninth place.
High Bar
ROUTINE: Hayashi stuck his dismount to earn an even 14.000. He finished fifth.
ROUTINE: Thackston earned a career-high on high bar for the second-straight day with a 13.775 and a stuck dismount tonight. He placed sixth.

Head Coach Rustam Sharipov: "I'm proud of our guys tonight for finishing strong at the Big Ten Championships. They showed up and put together strong routines with all eyes on them. We'll get back to practice on Monday to prepare for the NCAA Championships. We're excited to host the event in Covelli and show what we've worked all season on."
