COLUMBUS, Ohio – It's rivalry week in Columbus as the Ohio State men's lacrosse team closes the 2024 regular season Saturday, April 20 against Michigan. The Buckeyes (6-7, 1-3 B1G) and Wolverines (6-6, 1-3 B1G) face off from Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium at 7 p.m.

75th Season of Buckeye Lacrosse

The 2024 season marks the 75th season of Ohio State men's lacrosse.
In that time, the program has earned over 500 wins and selections to seven NCAA Tournaments, with four quarterfinal trips and a Final Four appearance in 2017.
The program has earned over 200 all-conference selections and 69 All-America awards.
Thirty-one Buckeyes have been drafted to professional lacrosse leagues.
The team will celebrate the milestone and welcome back program alumni at Saturday's game.

In their last game, the Buckeyes fell in overtime to No. 3 Johns Hopkins, 11-10. Ohio State's last two conference games, both against top-10 opponents, were decided by one goal.
Entering the final weekend of the regular season, Ohio State is tied for fourth in the Big Ten with Michigan and Rutgers.
The Buckeyes remain at 15th in the RPI this week. The team's strength of schedule is third in the country, behind No. 2 Duke and Johns Hopkins. Ohio State's losses this season have all come against teams in the top 10 of the RPI.
Ohio State leads the Big Ten in ground balls per game (33.77) and scoring defense (9.54).
The team's 118 caused turnovers on the year are the most since the 2011 season.
Ohio State paces the Big Ten with 33.77 ground balls per game. The mark is good for 16th nationally. The Buckeyes are also top-20 nationally in caused turnovers per game (9.08), clearing percentage (.888) and faceoff win percentage (.560) and scoring defense (9.54).
The Buckeyes have faced four of the top five teams in this week's USILA poll and seven of the top 10 teams. Ohio State's past opponents' current rankings: No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 3 Johns Hopkins, No. 4 Virginia, No. 5 Maryland, No. 6 Denver, No. 8 Cornell, No. 10 Penn State and No. 20 Air Force. Rutgers and Utah join Ohio State in receiving votes in the poll.

Tommy Burke has grabbed a team-high 60 ground balls this season for the Buckeyes and leads the way on the faceoff with a .563 win percentage (112-199). Last week against the Blue Jays, he went 14-22 from the dot. Burke, who joined the Buckeyes this season as a graduate transfer, has now earned 100 faceoff wins in the last four seasons.
Hudgins leads the team with 20 caused turnovers on the year. The mark is tied for third in program history for caused turnovers in a season. The record of 28 was set in both 2011 and 2012 by Keenan Ochwat. The senior is fourth in the conference with 1.54 caused turnovers per game.
Freshman goalie Caleb Fyock is sixth in the country, and first in the Big Ten, with a 9.37 goals against average through 12 games in his first collegiate season. He has earned a .538 save percentage and averages over 10 saves per game.
Alex Marinier leads the attack with 25 goals and 27 points on the year. Five Buckeyes have reached the 20-point mark for the season: Marinier, Jack McKenna (24), Ed Shean (24), Gannon Matthews (23) and Ben Mayer (23).
Shean leads the team with a career-high 10 assists this season.
Marinier is second in the Big Ten, and just one goal short of the lead, with four man-up goals in 2024.

History vs. Michigan

Ohio State is 11-6 against Michigan in the varsity series record. The teams have met 27 times prior to Saturday, including both varsity and non-varsity contests.
The Buckeyes hold the 12-2 lead over the Wolverines in matchups played in Columbus.
Saturday marks the first time in series history the teams will faceoff in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
Graduate defenseman Jacob Snyder and senior defensive midfielder Connor Cmiel lead the Buckeyes with seven games played in the rivalry for their careers.
