Four Buckeyes Earn All-MIVA Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Four Buckeyes were named to the All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association teams Thursday after a vote of league coaches.Â
Senior Jacob Pasteur and junior Cole Young were named 2024 First Team All-MIVA while redshirt senior Michael Wright and sophomore Shane Wetzel earned second team honors.Â
Pasteur, an outside hitter from Westminster, Maryland, led Ohio State with 322 kills and 55 aces. He ended the regular season second in digs (115) and owned the team lead with 401.5 points. To date in his career, Pasteur is fifth in career kills at Ohio State with 1,424, third in career assists (154) and sixth in career points (kills/aces/solo blocks/assists)Â with 1,696.
He has been a member of the All-MIVA First Team each of the last three seasons and was the 2023 MIVA Player of the Year.Â
Young, middle blocker from Powell, Ohio, led the MIVA in hitting percentage at .427 with 188 kills, third among the 2024 Buckeyes. He also led the team in blocks with 99. He finished the regular season with more than 500 (523) career kills, 100 career digs (107), and nearly 500 career blocks (.246). This is the second-consecutive season in which Young has been named to the All-MIVA first team.Â
Wright, a setter from Richmond, Virginia, reached 2,000 career assists this year with a team-leading 661. He currently ranks No. 8 all-time at Ohio State with 2,587. His 31 aces this season was second among the Buckeyes. He also added 53 blocks, third most.Â
Wetzel, an opposite hitter from Lake Mary, Florida, finished the regular season second in kills with 284. The 2023 MIVA Freshman of the Year is a two-time second team All-MIVA selection.Â
The Buckeyes are the No. 3 seed in the 2024 MIVA Tournament and will play host to No. 6 Lewis University at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Covelli Center in Columbus.
