
Thackston and Snyder Win Big Ten Weekly Awards

The Big Ten announced its final weekly men’s gymnastics awards of the season on Monday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its final men's gymnastics weekly awards of the season on Monday. Sophomore Parker Thackston was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week and Zach Snyder was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week – each winning their respective award for the second time this season.
Thackston led the Buckeyes to their highest team score of the season on Tuesday in the final meet of the regular season. Thackston earned a career-high 15.250 on pommel horse to win his second-straight pommel horse title as Ohio State recorded its best pommel horse total of the year. His score was more than a half point higher than the runner-up, more than a half point higher than his previous career-high and is the Buckeyes' highest individual score on any event this season. Thackston becomes only the third gymnast in the country to record a score 15.250 or higher on pommel horse and now ranks sixth in the country. He also competed for the Buckeyes on high bar in the lead-off spot.
Snyder won his second vault title of the season as the Buckeyes recorded their highest team score of the season in the regular-season finale this past Tuesday. Snyder earned a 14.750 on vault as he now ranks 15th in the country on the event. He also led off the meet on floor with a 13.500.
