COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women's hockey head coach Nadine Muzerall was named the 2023-24 WCHA Coach of the Year by the conference on Thursday.
Â
Muzerall, who is in her eighth season at the helm of the Buckeyes, led the team to a program-record 26 conference wins this season. Those wins included the first series sweep of Minnesota Duluth in program history and a sweep of then-ranked No. 1 Wisconsin to take over the top spot in the polls.
Â
Under her tutelage, seven Buckeyes earned All-WCHA honors this season and Joy Dunne was named the league's Rookie of the Year. This year's Ohio State roster is a threat up and down the line chart with all but one skater tallying 10 or more points.
Â
On top of a successful season so far, Muzerall became the winningest coach in program history this year. Entering this weekend, she has earned a career record of 191-72-19.
Â
The Buckeyes have won 31 games in 2023-24, making it the third straight season the team has earned 30 wins. The team has also tied the program record with 17 wins on home ice this year.
Â
While there are still games to be played, the Buckeyes have already set program records for season goals, points and assists, goals in a game and shorthanded goals in a game.
Â
The award is Muzerall's fifth of her career and third in as many seasons.
Â
Ohio State is set to play in its seventh consecutive Final Faceoff this week, facing off against Minnesota Duluth in the semifinals Friday at 2 p.m. from Ridder Arena. The winner of Friday's game will play in Saturday's title game at 3 p.m.
